Mahavihara Vanshika Sri Kalyani Smagri Maha Sanga Sabawa, which consists of nearly 700 temples, and 3000 monks, has appointed Milinda Moragoda as the Chairman of its Sanrakshana Sabawa.
The Most Venerable Ithepana Dharmalankara Mahanayake Thera formally presented Moragoda with the letter of appointment in the presence of Anunayake Ven Prof Kotupitiye Rahula Thera and other Senjor Buddhist Clergy during the formal meeting of the Sangha Sabawa within the precincts of the historical Uposhtharaya at the Kotte Raja Maha Viharaya.
Mahavihara Vanshika Sri Kalyani Smagri Maha Sanga Sabawa was founded in 1855 when its first ordina tion ceremony was held on the banks of the Kelaniya River. Many illustrious and erudite monks including the late Ven Belanvila Wimalarathana and the late Madulawe Sobitha, were members of this Chapter.
