Moragoda to spend part of campaign funds on community projects
... In 2001 and 2004, Moragoda set a precedent in the Colombo District by challenging other candidates to conduct their campaigns so that the citizen and voter are respected. As he then pointed out, posters and cut-outs not only infringe on private property... the activity of putting up posters often results in violent clashes... in the frenetic race to paste posters of their favoured candidates.

Women are in the 'basement' of Politics in Sri Lanka
In the case of political representation in Sri Lanka, we cannot even refer to a ‘glass-ceiling’ – as women have been kept in the ‘basement’ of politics. National Congress..
