Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda has taken the initiation to conduct the preliminary round of talks held last week, with regard to developing the Kalpitiya area as a tourist attraction.
The Morning Leader learns that the initial step taken by Moragoda was appointing a committee that would be in charge of the development project. Sirisena Cooray was appointed as the committee chairman, during the meeting.
The discussions were held in the Puttalam Divisional Secretariat with the chairman of the North Western Provincial Council, P.M.Leelaratne, Tourism Ministry Secretary, and many others in attendance.
“In the process of developing Kalpitiya as a tourist attraction in Sri Lanka, we look forward to establishing a private-government partnership. Immeasurable steps have to be taken in developing infrastructure facilities, including land, telephone and water capacities in the area. We also make this an opportunity to invite investors to take the initiative to invest in the Kalpitiya area, which is the targeted locale for tourist attraction,” Moragoda said, addressing the gathering. |
