Milinda speaks for Lanka at Davos World Economic Forum
 
MP Milinda Moragoda yesterday told the prestigious World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland that Sri Lanka has embarked on a massive rebuilding program following the tsunami devastation.


He made this remark at a session titled 'Building a Coalition for Reconstruction' at the Davos summit.


Aburizal Bakrie Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs for India, Minister for Science and Technology Shri Kapil Sibal from India also explained the situation how they faced at this disaster.


Nearly 2250 global political, business and social leaders are participating the annual summit. They have been highly interested in learning more about how the Tsunami disaster affected to people in Asia and the rebuilding and rehabilitation challenge.


"Sri Lanka was going through the development and made a temporary stopped the war but unexpectedly people and country had to face this disaster situation. Country should rebuild through constructing of Railways and Highways, Building , Fishery industry, Business and other Commercial Industries," Mr. Moragoda had said. He has stated the responsibility done by the Government, Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickramasinghe and groups of other political parties.


Mr. Moragoda had handed over a copy of the government rebuilding plan to the Global Economic Forum.


He has also stated that Sri Lanka needs greater investments than mere financial donations if the country were to recover quickly. The magnanimous response and support from the international community for Sri Lanka was also acknowledged by Mr. Moragoda.


Mr. Moragoda has also been nominated as a Future World Leader by this World Economic Forum and including him 237 members have been invited as Future World Leaders at this occasion. Fourty nine members in Asia have been invited and Mr. Moragoda is the only person has been invited from Sri Lanka.
