The United People’s Freedom Alliance yesterday handed over its Colombo District nominations for the April 8 General Election.

The list of nominations were handed over to Returning Officer (Colombo) G.A.J. Sylvester by UPFA General Secretary Minister Susil Premajayantha at the Colombo District Secretariat.

Following the handing over of nominations, Minister Premajayantha told the gathering that they had fielded a strong group with popular new faces to maximize the chances of obtaining a two thirds majority for the Government.

“We are confident of going past the 58 percent mark in the total vote at the General Election. Our group is highly united and determined to achieve this target,” he said.

He said the UPFA has no challenge from its rivals and added that the UPFA consists of the most number of constituent parties.
