Milinda Moragoda, whose internationally-honoured trilingual website Milinda.org has been operating since 2001, has just connected up with Twitter.com. Twitter is the popular and fast-growing social networking and micro-blogging service which allows account holders to instantaneously communicate with others via the internet, using cell phones or computers. Twitter has created a lot of excitement among the internet community. Like SMS messaging, Twitter messages are restricted to 140 characters. Twitter can be used to keep in touch with groups of people and is instantaneous.Moragoda intends to use Twitter to keep the public updated on his activities as leader of the Sri Lanka National Congress. The public can keep up with Moragoda’s activities by going to the Twitter.com website and typing in his user name: @MilindaMoragoda. The public can also continue to access in-depth news, webcasts, podcasts and information about Moragoda on Milinda.org. His website, which has archives dating back to 1998, was an honoree in the categories of Political Websites and Personal Websites in 2007 at the 11th Annual Webby Awards, dubbed the “Oscars of the Internet” by The New York Times.
