Moragoda to attend legal confab

Justice and Law Reforms Minister Milinda Moragoda will lead Sri Lanka’s delegation to the 48th session of the Asian-African legal Consultative Organization, which will convene in Putrajaya, Malaysia this week.

The delegation will include Solicitor General W.P.G. Depp, PC.

The AALCO was founded in 1955 following the birth of the Non-aligned Movement, on the proposal of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The aim of the Organization is to assist countries in Asia and Africa to co-ordinate and assert their views on the formation of rules of international law.

The Organization has played that important role in major international conferences such as those dealing with the Law of Treaties, the Law of the Sea, protection of the environment, refugees and internally displaced persons.
