Leader of the Sri Lanka National Congress and Minister Milinda Moragoda recently, handed over the policy document of the party on the forthcoming General Election titled “Agenda for influencing the Government.” to a number of influential members of the Maha Sangha, representing all three Chapters at a ceremony held at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya.


Handing over the policy paper, Milinda Moragoda told the Venerable Maha Sngha members that it was the intention of the Sri Lanka National Congress, to pursue these policies as a constituent party of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), within the framework of the Mahinda Chintana-Idiridakma.


He also said that his party would brief the Maha Sangha regularly on the initiatives undertaken to make this agenda a reality.


Ven.Ittapane Dhammalankara Anunayaka Thero, Kotte Sri Samagree Sanga Sabawa of the commenting on the policy document presented by the Minister said that although we are thinking of a post conflict phase, the conflict has not really ended and said that ethnic, religious, cast and political conflicts are still looming large within the Sri Lankan society and stressed the need to focus the attention to heal the society of these ills.


Ven. Kotugoda Dammawasa, Leader-Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sanga Sabawa, Ven. Akuratiye Nanda-Chief Editor of Sinhala Encyclopedia, Ven. Prof. Kollupitiya Mahinda Sangarakkitha- Chief Incumbent of Kalaniya Rajamaha Viharaya and Ven. Nagoda Amarawansa- Director of Sri Lanka College also participated in the event.
