July 08, 2009: Milinda Moragoda, Minister of Justice and Law Reforms met Chief Justice Ashoka N. de Silva today.


The meeting took place at the Chief Justice's office.
This is the first time that Minister Moragoda met the Chief Justice subsequent to assuming duties as the Minister of Justice and Law Reforms.


Meanwhile, a special meeting is scheduled between the minister and the Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa tomorrow.

Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, Suhada Gamlath said a special meeting would be held tomorrow morning with the participation of the Defence Secretary, the Minister of Justice and the heads of the relevant divisions dealing with crime.


“We hope to conduct discussions and implement an island wide programme that will effectively deal with this wave of crime sweeping across the country,” Mr. Gamlath said.
