To celebrate the 76th Independence Day, an event to commemorate the memory of Sir D.B. Jayatilaka, was jointly organised by the Vidayalankara Pirivena temple and the Urumayaka Ulpatha Foundation. The Most Ven. Professor Kumburugamuwe Vajira, Chancellor of the University of Sabaragamuwa was the chief guest. Senior journalist Lakshman Piyasena, the author of Sir D.B. Jayatilaka's biography (Baron Magaarunu Maga) published by the Pathfinder Foundation, delivered the keynote address. Milinda Moragoda, Founder of the Pathfinder Foundation and Urumayaka Ulpatha, R.A.D. Sirisena, Secretary of the Urumayaka Ulpatha Foundation and other senior officials participated.
