The government plans to modernise the Government Analyst’s Department to international standards.

A high level delegation from the Netherlands will visit Sri Lanka in December for a feasibility study.

A Law Reforms Ministry official told The Island that during Minister Milinda Moragoda’s recent visit to the Netherlands, he had an opportunity to meet the Netherlands Law Reforms Minister Ernest H. Belalin and some high officials. He held discussions with them on the modernisation of Sri Lanka’s Government Analyst Department which had remained stagnant under successive Governments.

When he pointed out that the Sri Lankan Government Analyst Department had not been modernised to suit the modern requirements, the Netherland’s Government had expressed its willingness to help Sri Lanka. The Analyst’s Department in the Netherlands was under the purview of the Netherlands Government.

The Official said the Netherlands Analyst’s Department was equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and modern experimentation laboratories. Some international judiciaries had obtained various reports from it.
