Committee to deal with public complaints

 

The Minister of Justice and Law Reforms Milinda Moragoda, in consultation with the Chief Justice Asoka de Silva, has appointed a high-powered committee to consider public complaints regarding office administration in the judicial sector, the Justice Ministry said.

The policy of the Government is to ensure a unified and an inclusive approach to develop and maintain law and order in Sri Lanka in a post conflict era. The Minister of Justice and Law Reforms is accordingly committed to ensure the benefits of laws, rules and regulations to all communities without discrimination.

Justice K.T. Chithrasiri, Judge of the Court of Appeal and Chairman of the Human Resources and Capacity Building Committee set up recently by the Minister under the aegis of the Chief Justice will head this committee.

Awareness

According to the new setup public could send their complaints, in respect of matters connected with office administration such as, Delay in making refunds of Security Deposits, Loss of Case Records and Execution of Writs especially which do not come within the judicial functions of a Judge. The Secretary of Judicial Services Commission informs the public to send their complaints, to Secretary, Judicial Services Commission, Hulfts Dorp, Colombo 12.
