Without undermining Sri Lanka’s dignity
Discussions on GSP+ extension continuing with European Union (EU)

Professor G. L. Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International Trade and Milinda Moragoda, Minister of Justice and Law Reforms, had extensive discussions with members of the Maha Sangha comprising the Maha Sangha Advisory Committee of the Justice Ministry, on a range of issues relating to the GSP+ facility and development of the economy at this point of time.


At this meeting, the Mahanayake Theros urged the Ministers to continue the discussions with the European Union on the extension of the GSP+ facility, which would be of tremendous benefit to Sri Lanka.


Minister Peiris told the prelates that the President has already appointed a committee consisting of four Ministers for the purpose and that discussions are being held with the relevant authorities for the extension of the facility but without undermining the dignity and self-respect of Sri Lanka.

Akuretiye Nanda Thero, Maha Nayake Thero of the Siyam Nikaye Rangiri Dhambulu Sector Most Ven. Inamaluwe Sumangala, Wellawatte Fredrikarama Viharadhipathi Ven. Ahangama Ananda Thero, Maradana Sri Lanka Viharadhipathi, Ven.
