High Commissioner to India Milinda Moragoda last week inspected the ongoing renovation work at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Pilgrims Rest (SLBPR) situated in New Delhi, a news release from the mission said.
"On identifying the urgent necessity to renovate the existing building to offer a better service to a large number of Sri Lankan as well as pilgrims from other countries visiting India to pay homage to the sacred places of worship in India, the High Commission initiated the much-needed renovation work to the existing infrastructure facilities." it said.
"During the inspection tour, Moragoda advised the technical officials and the team involved in the renovation work to improve safety aspects and uplift the existing accommodation standards that could offer the best possible facilities to the visiting pilgrims."
The Pilgrims' Rest which is located very close to the New Delhi main Railway Station functions under the High Commission of Sri Lanka in India. Senior officials of the High Commission accompanied the High Commissioner.
