“The power greedy politics has spoiled the country. Planless administration since independence made the country worse than in the colonial era. When one government starts a development project, the next government that came to power, whether it was profitable or not, ignored it” said the Ex-Minister Milinda Moragoda.

He said so speaking at an election rally held at Embuldeniya, Udahamulla in Maharagama electorate recently.

The Chairman of Maharagama Urban Council Chandrasena Masakorala chaired the meeting.

Moragoda said further “In developed countries they achieved their goals by means of five years, ten year plans.

We did not have a development   plan for the country since independence. Carrying on development projects without a plan is just like constructing a building without a foundation.

During last two years we strived very hard to secure a balanced economy for the country. We have achieved a lot by means of sound and methodical administration. Through the Peace Programme we could win the regard of the other countries. No war for the last two years. The country has come to normalcy.

UNF Government had made plans to provide jobs for jobless in the year 2004. We have decided to fill all the vacancies of the government sector this year. By dissolving Parliament and announcing a general election the expectations of the people were shattered.

We had three General Elections within three years. Is this democracy? Can the public bear this burden? Holding elections in Sri Lanka is like holding anniversary meeting in welfare societies.

The public is fed up with this election gambling.
