Milinda Moragoda, host of In Black & White Sri Lanka’s only talk show of its kind, has conducted over 100 interviews with an impressive list of guests, many outstanding figures of international renown and repute. His guests have included world leaders and forerunners in their chosen field, and the interviews have covered subjects and issues from political economy to art, conflict resolution to IT, governance to business and finance, states the Milinda Moragoda Information and Communication Centre.
The program was also aired on one of Singapore’s leading news channels, Channel News Asia viewed in 15 countries across the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and Australia.
The best of over 100 interviews done to date will be aired in a series beginning this week. The first interview to be telecast in this series will be the ground-breaking video conference television interview with World Bank President James D. Wolfensohn.
The World Bank group’s ninth president, James Wolfensohn established his career as an international investment banker with a parallel involvement, in development issues and the global environment. He was appointed to the position in 1995 under the Clinton administration. In 1999, he was reappointed by the Bank’s Board of Executive Directors to a second five-year term, making him the third president in the Bank’s history to serve a second term.
The interview focused on such issues as the role of the World Bank in the 21st century, poverty alleviation, the use of technology in development and the role of women in development. |
