President of World Bank on 'In Black & White'



The first ever television interview conducted via video conference in Sri Lanka, was for the talk show ‘In Black & White’ when host Milinda Moragoda interviewed the President of the World Bank, James D. Wolfensohn.  It was also the first interview on a video link from Sri Lanka using the Bank’s global network.  The interview was held on 16th January at World Bank office in Colombo, where Mr. Moragoda was linked via satellite to Mr. Wolfensohn at the headquarters of the World Bank in Washington DC.  This special edition of ‘In Black & White’ will be telecast on Saturday, 2nd February at 10.00 p.m. on MTV.

Some of the topics which were discussed at the interview were, the role of the World Bank in the 21st century, poverty alleviation, the use of technology in development and the role of women in development.
