Senior Minister W.J.M. Lokubandara is likely to be appointed as Leader of the House, government sources said yesterday. They said with the sudden death of Minister Gamini Atukorale, a minor cabinet reshuffle is also likely soon. According to these sources, at least six non-cabinet ministers are likely to be elevated to full cabinet rank while four MPs may get non-cabinet posts. Those tipped for non-cabinet posts are Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Ranjith Maddumabandara and Keheliya Rambukwella. The non-cabinet ministers likely to get a promotion are Karunasena Kodituwakku, Ravi Karunanayake, Rajitha Senaratne, Milinda Moragoda, Imitiaz Bakeer Makar and Mahinda Samarasinghe. |
