| Minister Moragoda wants to feel the response

Milinda Moragoda, the newly appointed Minister to the Cabinet said his intention is to visit schools, temples, churches, kovils and hospitals to listen to the response of the people. In a statement he made after taking oaths he said “My swearing in as a Cabinet Minister today, marks another milestone in my dedication to the public service”. This honour is possible only because of the Prime Minister and the people of the Colombo district who have placed their confidence in me. I owe them my deepest gratitude. After the last general election, I was sworn in as a minister on December 12, 2001. Since then, at the request of the Prime Minister I have given all my time and energy to the government’s peace efforts. Thereafter, I had hardly any time for the people of the Colombo district. Instead, I was visiting places such a Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa and Muttur. Peace is the priority of the government. It comes first in my priority list too. So, I gave my time and energy for the government’s peace initiative. As a result of the untiring efforts of the Prime Minister, today, the peace process has taken a historic turn. So, having made my contribution towards it, I now wish to meet the people in the Colombo district. I also look forward to listen to you. RESPONSE is the name I have given to these moments of our interaction. So, in the coming weeks, I hope to meet you at schools, temples, churches, kovils and hospitals and listen to your response. |
