Former Lankan premier meets Vajpayee





Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on a recent visit to India called on the former Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Mr. Wickremesinghe did not fail to thank Mr. Vajpayee for the cooperation extended by India during his tenure as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka .

Both leaders reminisced on the role each other played to strengthen the ties of friendship between the two countries and enhance cooperation.

In response to inquiries Mr. Wickremesinghe briefed the Indian leader on the recent political developments in the country and made special reference to the peace process.

On the second day of the four day official visit Mr.Wickremesinghe met Mr. L.K. Advani to share their concerns about the political situations in the two countries.

Peace the report said, looked the focal point of discussion between the two leaders.

The Sri Lankan delegation consisted of Parliamentarian Milinda Moragoda, High Commissioner Mangala Moonasinghe, Dr. V. K. Valsan, Advisor to the Leader of the Opposition and Mr. Saman Athaudahetti, Media Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition.
