The 4th annual prize giving of “Apeksha” English Programme will be held at YMBA Hall, Borella today commencing at 2.30 p.m.
The chief guest on this occasion will be Olcott Gunasekara former Senior Civil Servant and FAO United Nations Consultant in Thailand.
The free classes which were initiated by Milinda Moragoda MP are held in the afternoon after school hours in a permanent location at the Community Centre Halls and Buddhist Temple premises providing a conducive atmosphere to the students.
At the beginning there were 60 students and now there are approximately 600 students enrolled under “Apeksha” and in view of the tremendous success of the programme, appeals have been made for its expansion. “Apeksha” expects to extend its reach and widen access to accommodate more children of less privileged families who generally have shown tremendous potential and interest in learning the language. |
